About Photo Finished
Liv’s moved to NYC to make a go of her photography career – living in a small apartment/studio below her grandparents’ brownstone and working part-time in their key shop. She takes a leap when famous photographer, Regina Montague, comes in to have a key made. Liv asks for a job. Regina offers her the chance to shoot with her at the exclusive Holiday Debutante Ball.
Unfortunately, the ball ends with Liv finding a bloody Regina kneeling by the corpse of billionaire Charlie Archibald. Liv’s convinced that she can figure out who the killer is, because she’s sure it isn’t Regina. With an assist from Regina’s assistant and Harry, a fraud investigator and potential boyfriend, Liv uses details from the photos she shot at the ball to search for the real killer.
My thoughts about Photo Finished
Using NYC as a setting gives the story a fresh modern feel.
Liv is a fun character with her photographer’s eye and keen observation skills along with her slight zaniness. I loved it when she would talk about taking photos – how she views things differently through a lens. The secondary characters were fully realized – her family felt authentic with a boisterous NJ vibe. Harry was adorable and I hope we see more of him in future books.
With money and revenge as motives, there’s no lack of suspects and I enjoyed Liv’s investigation that definitely had twists I wasn’t expecting. I loved the secondary mystery with the safe her grandfather was hired to open and how skillfully the author related it to murder.
In closing
This is a great introduction to a new series. It’s the perfect fast-paced, fun read!
