About Shards of Glass
Robin’s disappeared from the Warrens, a dangerous and often deadly place. His protector and friend, Raven, his lifelong friend and protector, tracks him down to the newly awakened Academia. Lost for millennia, the Academia was once the center of learning in Elantra. With its new dragon lord chancellor and influx of students, the Academia is starting to regain its place.
Until students get murdered. Raven wants to flee back to the Warrens but Robin feels compelled to stay and unravel the mystery. Even at his own peril.
My thoughts Shards of Glass
Michelle Sagara’s world-building is incredibly detailed and rich. She’s given Elantra millennia of history and backstory that’s run through with political intrigue and the never-ending battle between Good and Evil. I love that she’s slowly revealing the secrets – just enough at a time to leave me wanting more.
Robin is a lot like the main character in the original Elantra stories, Kaylin Neya, – young, orphaned, but resourceful. And with the ability to get befriended by powerful people.
SHARDS OF GLASS is intricately plotted, weaving together Robin and Raven’s backstories along with the Academia’s history.
I was totally engrossed while reading this high-fantasy quest with multiple mysteries including true identities that increases in tension as time is running out and the stakes grow ever higher.
While this isn’t a Kaylin book, it shares a setting and several characters. SHARDS OF GLASS takes place after Cast in Wisdom.
