About A Restless Truth

A RESTLESS TRUTH is the second book in The Last Bindings series. In this gaslamp fantasy, Sir Robin’s sister, Maud, is undercover on an oceanliner to England, posing as Lady Navenby’s companion. While Maud’s game for adventure things take a turn for the serious when Lady Navenby’s murdered and a magical artifact is stolen. Now it’s up to Maud to figure out the murderer and regain the artifact. Except that Maud isn’t even sure what the artifact looks like – only that it’s crucial to recover it.

Luckily for Maud, the scandalous and seductive Violet is willing to help her look.

My thoughts about A Restless Truth

Maud is an utter delight with her game enthusiasm and determination to Do What’s Right. Which makes her the perfect counterpoint for Violet’s love of shocking people and pragmatic approach to life. The interactions between Maud and Violet go from innocent to smoldering in no time at all as they race to discover the murderer before the ship docks in England.

The writing is fantastically descriptive, capturing the time period and giving a real sense of what traveling on a cruise ship was like, especially for those with money. The descriptions of clothing were sheer perfection.

This has all of the high-stakes adventure, magical skullduggery, and hot and spicy romance of the first book, A Marvellous Light. Plus the added fun of a mystery on an ocean liner. And then there’s the pornography that innocent but willing to learn Maud discovers.

In closing

A Restless Truth gives you magical mayhem and mystery with a steamy sapphic shipboard romance.
