About Back in a Spell
Ready for more sensual, diverse, inclusive witchy vibes? Because Lana Harper delivers a cauldron full of magic and romance in BACK IN A SPELL.
In the newest book set in Thistlegrove, we get opposites attract in all senses of the trope. Nineve Blackmoore, cool, driven, and sensible, witch goes on a blind date with Morty Gutierrez, the nonbinary, quirky, human, bar owner. The date is more awkward, closer to dreadful. But then something magical happens and Nina accidentally discovers her powers are growing. And that includes a witch marriage to Morty. Now that they have a telepathic bond, maybe things aren’t so bad…or are they?
My thoughts about Back in a Spell
The writing is sparkling and magical – everything is described in gorgeous detail with sensuality threaded through it all. The banter is clever and fun. We get backstory about Thistlegrove, the founders, and where the magic originates. It’s glorious to see Nina, usually so reserved and buttoned down open up, both to the goddess and the possibility of happiness with Morty.
There are some rough spots – Nina’s mother and grandmother are emotionally manipulative and abusive. Almost every scene with them made me want to chuck something at their heads.
In closing
This series keeps charming me with its witchy and seductive ways and I can’t wait for more!
