About Codename Charming

Following Battle Royal, about enemies to lovers bakers, we get an opposites attract contemporary work place romance. Pet is the assistant extraordinaire to accident prone, princess’s husband, Johnny. Matthias is the large, serious, mostly silent royal bodyguard that Pet keeps running into, literally, landing on top of, and just generally being a disaster around – although it’s usually because of something Johnny’s done. But still – embarrassing.

Pet and Matthias are told that they need to have a very public, fake relationship by the royal PR team to avoid media speculation about Pet and Johnny. What starts out as a job turns into more as the sunshine and grump spend time together, discovering that they have more in common than they thought.

My thoughts about Codename Charming

This was such a joy to read! Pet is a human rainbow – colorful, sparkly, and vibrant. While Matthias is the personification of still waters run deep. Pet wears her emotions openly and Matthias keeps his locked inside behind his veneer of absolute professionalism. And I love watching him let Pet in – just a little. And how she grows into his fiercest defender and protector.

Quirky, giggle-inducing humor balanced by sweet hurt/comfort moments. What an incredibly satisfying read. I loved every moment of it!

In closing

About Lucy Parker

Lucy Parker lives in New Zealand, where she feels lucky every day to look out at mountains, lakes, and vineyards. She has a degree in Art History, loves museums and art galleries, and doodles unrecognizable flowers when she has writer’s block.

When she’s not writing, working or sleeping, she happily tackles the towering pile of to-be-read books that never gets any smaller. Thankfully, there’s always another story waiting.

Her interest in romantic fiction began with a pre-teen viewing of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (Firth-style), which prompted her to read the book as well. A family friend introduced her to Georgette Heyer, and the rest was history.
