About The Golden Spoon
This debut novel is the Great British Bake-Off meets Knives Out. Six amateur bakers are competing in Bake Week, filmed in a remote stately home. At first, the shoot appears to be plagued with accidents and mishaps. Then it becomes obvious that something more sinister is at play. All of the bakers, both judges, and some crew members have secrets.
My thoughts about The Golden Spoon
Told from rotating points of view and flashbacks, personal mysteries are slowly revealed. Each voice was perfectly captured – I was never at a loss as to which character was narrating the chapter. The final reveal was incredibly satisfying.
This contemporary cozy contains lots of exquisite baking descriptions and details. I wanted to taste so many of the creations!
The story moved quickly. Each chapter revealed something crucial about a character – their backstory or motivation. Or possible guilt.
It’s obvious to see why it’s being adapted for Hulu. I can’t wait to watch it!
In closing
The perfect read for baking competitions and mystery fans alike. Try Battle Royal by Lucy Parker or A Good Day to Pie by Misha Popp.
