About Board to Death
Board to Death is the first book in a fun, new cozy series. Ben’s come home to Sugar Falls, a suburb of Salt Lake City, to care for his aging father and help run the family game shop and cafe. Ben’s gone from being married to a lawyer and teaching literature at a Seattle college to being divorced and dealing with a struggling business. Things get even worse when an unpleasant customer is found murdered in front of the store. Now Ben’s a suspect and he needs to clear his name.
My thoughts about Board to Death
Board to Death, a quozy (queer cozy), deals with some tough topics – being queer in a very religious town, caring for an aging parent, and running a struggling small business – in a very authentic way. Ben’s struggles and doubts were relatable. And his blossoming romance with fellow business owner, Ezra, was charming. So much wonderful gaming nerdiness! History of games, descriptions, even how to play. Quick read that kept me guessing until the end.
In closing
I want to attend meetings that are really an excuse to play games like the Sugar Falls business group that meets in Ben’s store.
