About Double Shot Death
DOUBLE SHOT DEATH by Emmeline Duncan is the second cozy coffee mystery in the Ground Rules series.
Set in the PNW, this time Sage is at Campathon, a music festival set in the woods, with her coffee cart and her boyfriend Bax. Plus the dead bodies she finds and again finds herself a suspect so she needs to investigate to clear her name.
My thoughts about Double Shot Death
Double Shot Death is a great entry point into the series. There’s enough backstory mentioned that you get a taste for what happened in the first book, Fresh Brewed Murder. You meet the key players – Sage, her family, friends, and business partner.
Campathon gives a smalltown feel with lots of big personalities with plenty of reasons to have committed the murder – lots of revealed secrets, unresolved issues, and hidden ties.
It’s a cozy so no graphic violence or sex although things do heat up between Sage and Bax.
All of the delicious coffee talk you could want without it ever becoming overwhelming to the story.
Plus, adorable kitten!
You get:
Well-defined sense of place
Relatable and likable MC
Amateur sleuth needs to investigate to clear her name and save her business
Woman biz owner
Queer rep
Great puzzle
Cute kid and kitten
Strong family ties
Delicious recipes and coffee trivia
In closing
Double Shot Death is a perfect, caffeinated read when you’re in the mood for a little mystery with your espresso.
Great for fans of Tara Lush.
